# Explanation: Sampling report

A **sampling log** is a document used to systematically record soil or rock samples taken during a borehole drilling operation. It serves to ensure the traceability and documentation of the samples obtained, as well as their quality.

Typically, a sampling log contains:

- Depth details indicating the section from which the sample was taken
- Sample identifiers for unambiguous allocation (e.g. B1, B2, ...)
- Details of the sample, such as length and diameter
- Assessment of rock or soil quality, e.g. using parameters such as RQD or SCR
- Information on the sampling equipment and the method of sample collection
- Comments on any anomalies or particular features observed during sampling
- Details of the technician and their signature for confirmation

The sampling report forms the basis for further geotechnical and geological investigations and ensures that the origin and quality of the samples are clearly documented.
