Getting started with BoreDoc is quick and easy. After opening the application, first choose whether you wish to register as a new user or transfer an existing access to this device.

## Option #1: New registration

Use this option if you have not yet registered with BoreDoc. Enter your valid email address and you will immediately receive a confirmation code at the email address you provided; please enter this code on the next dialogue page. Once you have entered the confirmation code in the app, your access will be verified and a new API key will be automatically generated for use. BoreDoc will then be ready for use straight away. The generated API key has full access rights within your account and can be used to create further API keys.

## Option #2: Logging in on a new device

Select this option if you are already registered with BoreDoc and wish to log in on a different device. Here too, a verification code will be sent to the email address you provided; please enter this on the next dialogue page. Once you have entered this verification code in the app, your access will be verified and a new API key will be automatically generated for use. BoreDoc will then be ready to use straight away. The generated API key has full access rights within your account and can be used to create further API keys.

## Option #3: Logging in via QR code

If you have a QR code, you can scan it to log in on your device. QR codes are usually protected by a password, which you will find next to the QR code and can enter. Entering the password sets up a reusable API key on your device. BoreDoc is then ready to use straight away.

## Option #4: Manual entry of the QR code

If you do not have a camera – for example, when using the Windows or web application – you can enter the QR code manually. You will also need to enter the password here. Entering the password sets up a reusable API key on your device. BoreDoc is then ready to use straight away. If BoreDoc is able to detect a camera, this menu option will not be displayed.

Further information about accesses regarding BoreDoc and how API keys can be used can be found in the article [How do you use BoreDoc on multiple devices at the same time?](SM3HEN_boredoc-on-multiple-devices.md).

Getting started:

- For security reasons, the number of available API keys is limited. Therefore, older API keys will be invalidated if a new API key had to be created during registration.
- When registering, use the same email address that you wish to use to manage your account.
- Ensure you retain access to this email account, as verification will be carried out via this address.
- Please note that a new API key may be generated each time you log in successfully.

If you would like to use BoreDoc on additional devices, please read the help article **How do I use BoreDoc on multiple devices at the same time?** next.
