Before you can create a new borehole, you must first create a **drill site** or select an existing drill site. The drill site provides the technical framework for the associated boreholes and consolidates common details such as client, contractor and the address.

To create a new drill site, use the context menu on the left to **‘Select drill site’** and the **‘+’ button**. The new entry will then appear in the list of available drill sites.

Once created, you can further edit the drill site and, in particular:

- maintain its master data, such as name, description or site number
- add details to client, contractor and the address
- add one or more drill holes
- copy or delete existing drill holes

The corresponding drill holes are displayed in the lower section of the drill site view. There, you can manage which drill holes belong to this drill site.

To get started, you can also load **sample drill sites** when creating a new entry. These demonstrate typical use cases for BoreDoc, such as a geological profile, a geothermal borehole with calculations in accordance with VDI 4640, or a combination of site plan and a sketch.

Items that have already been deleted, such as drill sites, can be restored from the selection list.

If you wish to further edit the content of the newly created drill site, please read the help text ****Editing drill site**. Once you have created a specific borehole within the drilling site, the help text **Master data for a borehole** becomes relevant.
