# How do I collaborate with other BoreDoc users?

![workspace showing drill sites](/assets/img/screenshots/de_workspace_add_drillsite_demo_02.png)

Collaboration in BoreDoc takes place via **workspaces** and its **sharings**. If several people, devices or accounts are to work on the same content, it is not the individual data record that is shared, but the entire workspace.

## Would you like to share one of your workspaces so that another account?

To do this, go to **“My workspaces”** and open a workspace that is linked via **“BoreDoc-sharings”** , or create a new workspace. In the upper section, you will find the context menu for workspace. There you will find the button **“Manage sharings”**.

This view displays existing sharings and issued invitation codes. Using the **“+” button** you can create a new sharing for known accounts or invitation code for accounts accounts that have not yet been linked.

An invitation code must be entered on the other account’s device within 5 minutes. After that, the code expires.

## Have you received an invitation code and would now like to redeem it?

To do so, go to **“Other workspaces”** and select the **“+” button**. You can then either enter an invitation code or manually select shared workspaces from other accounts.

## What is the sharing granted for?

sharings are granted exclusively at workspace level to other accounts. The granting account defines the maximum permissible rights. The receiving account may distribute these rights internally amongst various user groups or staff members, but may never grant higher permissions than those authorised by the issuing account.

For example, this allows you to involve subcontractors in a targeted manner without granting them unrestricted access to all data. They can only view and edit what is relevant to their task. This ensures greater security whilst reducing the organisational burden.

workspaces enables you to provide and share content centrally, regardless of the device or account being used. This allows users to access documents across devices, whilst you can control permissions precisely at any time.

Tips for collaboration:

- Only share workspaces whose content is thematically related.
- Only grant the permissions that are genuinely necessary for the task at hand.
- Use invitation codes, particularly if another account is not yet linked as a known account .
- Check existing sharings regularly, particularly in the case of external partners.

If you would like to understand the rights and limitations of a sharing in more detail, please read the help texts **Function description: BoreDoc-sharings** and **Function description: BoreDoc roles**.
