# Feature description: BoreDoc-sharings

To use BoreDoc-sharings, you will need an internet connection and a tariff plan that unlocks this feature.

BoreDoc-sharings enables team collaboration across multiple devices. Data sets are organised into workspaces, where individual access rights can be assigned.

Typical use case: collaboration within a company. All participants use the same account; for example, one employee plans in the office, another records data on site, and a third prepares the documentation.

Another use case is collaboration with external partners, e.g. subcontractors with their own account. The working method remains the same; the only additional step is to set up the appropriate access rights.

BoreDoc is designed for use without a permanent internet connection. Before editing, a data record is locked on the server for other users, so that it can only be edited by one person at a time. This process therefore requires an internet connection.

Notes on using sharings:

- Always plan sharings at workspace level.
- Only share content that is genuinely required for collaboration.
- Check the assigned permissions carefully, particularly when dealing with external partners.

To find out how to set up a sharing in practice, please refer to the help text **How do I collaborate with other BoreDoc users?**. The **Function description: BoreDoc roles** is also relevant for the individual permission levels.
