# Start with a new borehole / drill site

To record a new borehole, a drill site must first be created or selected. This ensures that the borehole is uniquely assigned to a client. Existing drill sites can be selected via the ‘Select drill site’ context menu on the left, or new ones can be created using the ‘+’ button.

The associated boreholes are displayed in the lower section of the drill site view. Here, you can add further boreholes, as well as copy or delete existing entries.

When creating a new entry, you also have the option to load sample drilling sites. These illustrate typical use cases for BoreDoc, such as a geological profile, a geothermal borehole including calculations in accordance with VDI 4640, or the display of a sketch and site plan.

When selecting borehole locations, previously deleted locations can also be restored.
