# Location / Coordinates

Here you can enter the geographical position of the borehole. The coordinates enable a unique spatial reference and are used in documents and reports.

The selected coordinate reference system determines how the position is displayed. BoreDoc supports both GPS and UTM; when the reference system is changed, the coordinates are automatically converted.

By selecting ‘Determine position’, the current position can be imported directly from the device. The accuracy depends on the hardware and reception conditions and may vary by several metres.

Elevation is given in metres. The same elevation reference system should be used consistently within a drilling site, as certain documents (e.g. geological cross-sections) require a uniform reference elevation.
